Shook to Host Annual Legal Update for Agricultural Business Council of KC
Shook will host the Agricultural Business Council of Kansas City’s Annual Legal Update, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2019 at the firm’s headquarters at 2555 Grand Boulevard, Kansas City, Missouri. The featured speakers will be Partner Scott Strohm, Associate Mary Olson, Dr. Keith Harris, assistant professor of agribusiness management at Kansas State University, and Chelsea Good, vice president of government and industry affairs for the Livestock Marketing Association.
Strohm will provide a primer on blockchain and address legal issues expected to affect the agriculture industry. Dr. Harris will then discuss the current and potential uses of blockchain technology in the agrifood supply chain.
Good will discuss livestock industry programs developed to meet increasing consumer interest in traceability and sustainability, as well as how blockchain may affect the livestock sector in the future. Olson will close the session with an update on emerging issues in the agriculture and food space.
