Matt practices in the firm’s General Liability Litigation Group. He is a seasoned litigator with more than 20 years of experience in complex civil litigation. Matt has successfully litigated multiple cases to verdict and has led multiple trial teams, managing all aspects of litigation strategy. 

Matt practices nationwide in cases involving product liability, toxic torts, and consumer protection. He has personally tried, managed and settled hundreds of personal injury cases in federal and state courts across the country. He has litigated cases involving asbestos, silica, welding rods, premises liability, contractor liability, crash worthiness, and general product liability cases.

Along with being a top litigator, Matt is known for his leadership. Before joining Shook, Matt was the CEO, CFO, and served as an executive committee member at his previous firm. His leadership extends to his legal strengths, including trial strategy development, expert witness preparation and examination, jury selection, oral advocacy, and productive motion practice. 

Matt is a former college and minor league baseball player. The skills he learned in his beloved game—determination, teamwork, forming a strategic game plan, flexibility to quickly adapt to unknown challenges, and staying calm in high-performance situations—translate today into his practice to benefit his clients.
