Marty is an accomplished litigator who represents clients in high-stakes cases involving tens of millions of dollars in compensatory and punitive damages. Marty’s blend of legal ability, strategic and creative thinking, and personable demeanor puts him in constant demand from clients regardless of the area of law. Marty’s experience ranges in scope from product liability cases, to medical malpractice defense, to employment litigation.

Marty’s legal savvy and skill have made him a consistently recognized member of the legal community at a national level.  After interviews with general counsel of major American corporations, Marty was named a Client Service All-Star by BTI Consulting Group. BTI noted clients’ comments about Marty, including that “Marty is smart as a whip,” and that “he is more than qualified to try our cases.”

Marty is also a pro bono advocate. He has worked with the Missouri Coalition for the Right to Counsel and served as lead attorney to successfully defend indigent individuals who have been charged with Class A felonies.

Marty is an active member of Shook’s efforts to develop and mentor young attorneys. He has been a member of the firm’s Associates Committee and has been involved in the firm’s attorney recruitment efforts. Marty has also served as a supervising attorney and social chair for Shook’s summer associate program.
