Shook Associate Selected for Centurions Leadership Program
The Kansas City Chamber of Commerce has selected Shook Associate Maxwell McGraw as part of its Centurions Pinnacle Class of 2027. Since 1976, the Centurions Leadership Program has been a training ground for future Kansas City leaders. This two-year leadership development program has prepared greater Kansas City’s emerging leaders for roles including judges, CEOs and nonprofit executives.
Throughout the program, McGraw will volunteer for community service projects, learn about Greater Kansas City initiatives at monthly task forces and have a chance to network with Centurions alum. First-year Centurions serve on one standing committee and help organize one of the nine task forces during the program year. Second-year Centurions also serve on committees and task forces and serve as chairs of at least one of the two.
As an intellectual property attorney, McGraw’s practice focuses on a variety of technologies including computer software, telecommunications, consumer products, electronics and gaming. Since 2023, McGraw has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America in their “Ones to Watch” for excellence in patent litigation.
McGraw is also involved in Shook’s pro bono practice and has taken numerous cases, representing clients in criminal matters, including a Section 1983 action involving improper seizure of personal property, and asylum proceedings. He also serves on the Steering Committee for the OB Network, a professionals organization that provides support to Operation Breakthrough—a Kansas City-based organization that provides a safe and educational environment for children in poverty and empowers their families through advocacy, emergency aid and education.
