Shook Partners To Present on Junk Science in the Courtroom

Shook Partner Phil Goldberg will moderate and Partner Patrick Oot will be one of three panelists for a presentation at the 2024 Manufacturing Legal Summit in Washington, D.C. The presentation, “Junk Science in the Courtroom – Maneuvering the Perilous Path of Experts and Science in Litigation,” will take place November 13, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. ET. The session will address the preponderance of “independent” labs whose specialty is producing junk scientific theories that plaintiffs’ lawyers use to wage high-stakes litigation against manufacturers. The panel consists of in-house and outside counsel veterans of high-profile litigations where innovative techniques, including aggressive discovery tactics, were used to expose junk science.
