Shook Mentors Women Students at RBG Event
Shook lawyers will share their insight on a career as an attorney for an upcoming “Meaningful Day” event. Women students from the High School for Law and Justice will accompany Shook lawyers on a tour of an exhibit showcasing the career of former United States Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg (RBG) on Friday, April 8 at the Holocaust Museum Houston.
“We are honored to be part of this event,” said Shook Associate Brittany Vanek. “It will be an exciting day learning about Justice Ginsburg and also speaking to the next generation of potential women lawyers.”
Houston Managing Partner John Lewis, Jr. leads the office as well as the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives. Shook opened its Houston office 20 + years ago and serves clients nationally in product liability, intellectual property and business litigation matters, among other areas. In 2020, Shook Houston signed the Houston Bar Gender Fairness Pledge committed to increasing the number of women partners and leaders. Shook associates Lakshmi Achari, Ashleigh Nwanguma and Brittany Vanek will meet with the students to share their experiences in the legal profession.
“It's rewarding to be able to give back to the community in a meaningful way,” said Shook Partner Stephanie McGraw who serves as marketing partner for Houston.
