Shook Attorneys Panelists at IADC Mid-Year Meetings
Shook Partner Tim Congrove will be a panelist at the IADC’s in-person 2022 Mid-Year Meeting at the JW Marriott Camelback Inn, Scottsdale, Arizona, 7:30 – 8:30 a.m., MT, February 21. Congrove will be part of a four-attorney panel presenting, “‘No Concrete Harm, No Standing’ - Considerations in Challenging Class Members’ Article III Standing After TransUnion.” The panel will discuss the Supreme Court opinion in TransUnion LLC v. Ramirez (2021), with a focus on the considerations inherent in determining when and how to challenge the Article III standing of putative class members.
Shook Of Counsel Andrew Trask and Class Action and Appellate Litigation Practice Group Co-Chair Amir Nassihi will present “Hot Topics in Consumer Class Actions” on a panel with in-house counsel at the in-person and virtual 2022 IADC Mid-Year Meetings. Other panelists are Toyota Motor North America Managing Counsel Beverly Baughman, Volkswagen Group of America Corporate Counsel Jennifer White, and Tyson Foods Senior Counsel Sainabou Sonko. The past year has seen a dramatic increase in consumer class action filings, as well as key developments affecting the defense of these cases. The panel will discuss recent filing trends and key developments including risk mitigation strategies such as deploying class waiver arbitration clauses directly or as a third party, and controlling the risk of mass arbitrations. The panel will present at the in-person IADC mid-year meeting February 20, with a recording of their presentation offered online at IADC’s fully virtual 2022 mid-year meeting, March 2 – 4.
