Shook Signs Houston Bar Gender Fairness Pledge
Shook, Hardy & Bacon is among 60 law firms to have signed the Houston Bar Association’s Gender Fairness Commitment, which is designed to increase the number of women partners and firm leaders by 2020.
The pledge asks firms to develop an internal set of programs and policies to promote equality for women in law offices and corporate law departments.
“Shook recognizes the value women attorneys bring to the firm and we continue to make strides in promotion, engagement and advancement of diverse talent,” stated Shook’s Houston Managing Partner Jennise Stubbs.
Led by Shook Chair Madeleine McDonough, the firm engages women attorneys in key roles serving clients. Women or diverse relationship partners serve more than 46 percent of the firm’s top 65 clients.
Women lead or co-lead the firm’s Chicago, Houston, Miami, Orange County and Tampa offices. Shook’s Practice Groups led or co-led by women include Class Action & Appellate, Data & Discovery Strategies, Product Liability Litigation and Corporate Services. Women partners make up 45 percent of the firm’s Executive Committee. Shook has been awarded the Gold Standard Certification from the Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF) for eight consecutive years.
“Signing this pledge is an ongoing extension of how our firm operates day-to-day. We are proud to help make a difference in the legal industry to best serve our clients,” said Stubbs.
