Association of Corporate Counsel Honors Legal Services Initiative
The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) has honored the Manufacturers’ Compliance Institute (MCI) with one of two 2018 Corporate Counsel Awards, recognizing in-house legal departments that develop innovative contributions for their organizations. Through MCI, members of the National Association of Manufacturers can access a free 30-minute call to a law firm; the program was designed to help small to midsize companies that are subject to scores of regulatory and legal requirements, but have no internal legal resources.
Shook, Hardy & Bacon, one of six law firms participating in the program, provides counseling on product safety to MCI member companies. The others are Crowell & Moring, Littler Mendelson, Sidley Austin, Squire Patton Boggs and Wiley Rein.
Fannie Mae was the other recipient of this year’s award, for initiating a similar service to provide free legal counseling to member companies.
MCI services have helped member companies better understand the maze of federal and state regulations they deal with daily, improved their compliance and help protect their business investments.
