Shook Partner Phil Goldberg to Present on Personal Jurisdiction and Venue Disputes
Previously relegated to law-school classroom debate, personal jurisdiction and venue are now front-of-mind issues for civil litigators. In an upcoming webinar, Shook Partner Phil Goldberg and others will address how lower courts and the plaintiffs’ bar have responded to the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent rebukes of forum shopping. They will also identify the open questions and possible loopholes in the new jurisprudence, and discuss strategic responses on how to obtain and keep a “home court” advantage.
Goldberg has more than 25 years of experience advising clients on matters related to development of the common law, federal and state legislation, and litigation communications. He serves as managing partner of Shook’s D.C. office and is co-chair of Shook’s Public Policy Group.
“Personal Jurisdiction and Venue Disputes: Succeeding in a Changed Legal Environment,” is part of an ongoing webinar series sponsored by the Washington Legal Foundation. The free webinar will be October 11, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. EST.
