Thomas Gives New Associates Advice in Law360

Shook, Hardy & Bacon Partner and Chair of the firm’s Associates Committee Steve Thomas was quoted in a May 1 Law360 article titled “What New Associates Need To Do To Launch a Great Career,” where 50 veteran attorneys gave new associates career advice.

In the article, Thomas said: “Be even and consistent, always doing top-shelf work and never adjusting effort based on the attractiveness of the project — or the title of the assigning attorney. Communicate often and provide regular, periodic updates. If you’re asked about the status of a project, chances are you’ve failed to keep the assigning attorney appropriately apprised. Get out of your office and talk to people. Ask questions, seek advice, volunteer to help and share everything from ideas to experiences to work product. It’ll make you a better lawyer, and you’ll start building the relationships that will make your career fulfilling.”
