Shook Earns Sixth Consecutive Perfect Score in HRC’s 2015 Corporate Equality Index
Shook, Hardy & Bacon received a score of 100 percent on Human Rights Campaign’s (HRC’s) 2015 Corporate Equality Index, a report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT workplace equality.
“Shook, Hardy & Bacon is truly honored to earn top marks from HRC’s Corporate Equality Index for the sixth consecutive year,” said Chair John Murphy. “Fostering a diverse and inclusive environment at our firm is key to serving our clients with efficiency and creativity. We encourage our attorneys and staff to pursue and achieve their goals by offering them equal opportunities regardless of their gender identity, gender expression or sexual orientation, and we actively support community efforts to pursue equality for everyone.”
To prepare its 2015 Corporate Equality Index, HRC evaluated LGBT-related policies and practices like non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits and public engagement with the LGBT community at 971 businesses; nearly 150 law firms participated, including a majority of those appearing on The American Lawyer's list of the 200 highest-grossing firms. Of the law firms evaluated, 89 received a perfect 100 percent and 36 received a 90-percent score.
The Human Rights Campaign is the largest civil rights organization in the United States working to achieve LGBT equality.
