Shook Intellectual Property Practice Group Co-Chair Trent Webb and Partner Lauren Douville appeared as guests on IMS Legal Strategies’ IMS Insights Podcast to discuss how data and research impact trials and give firms a competitive edge.
In an episode titled “Using Innovative Technology to Advance Trial Strategies,” Webb and Douville share how they use jury research and discuss the state of IP cases today. Webb said it’s no secret that jury verdicts are getting larger—and clients are responding accordingly in what they demand from trial teams.
“These cases are becoming much more risky to our clients and so they are looking for any possible angle, any possible way to gain an advantage over your opponent, whether that be through the use of technology—AI or in this case jury research—and how can we best learn about our potential jurors and potential outcomes using that advantage,” Webb said.
