Biography

Ms. Mangrum is a partner with 20 years litigation experience. Her practice has been focused almost exclusively on the defense of pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers in products liability and commercial litigation.

Ms. Mangrum has litigated products liability cases in state and federal courts throughout the United States and has presented oral arguments in appellate courts. In the area of pharmaceutical and medical device products liability litigation, Ms. Mangrum has defended manufacturers of many different products, including synthetic and natural hormone therapies, antidepressants, anxiolytics, sleeping pills, chemotherapeutic agents, anticoagulants and OTC cough/cold medications.

Ms. Mangrum is a member of The Missouri Bar, the District of Columbia Bar and the American Bar Association. She is also a registered nurse. In 2011, Washingtonian magazine named Ms. Mangrum to its "Top Lawyers" list. While in law school, she served on the editorial board of the Missouri Law Review and was a member of Order of the Coif.

Products Liability Litigation - Ms. Mangrum is one of two SHB partners who serve as national counsel for Eli Lilly and Company in litigation concerning Lilly's neuroscience products Prozac®, Strattera® and Cymbalta®. In addition, Ms. Mangrum is one of two SHB partners currently acting as Bayer Corporation's national coordinating counsel in state and federal litigation in which plaintiffs allege that Bayer's PPA-containing products caused hemorrhagic and ischemic strokes.

Commercial - Ms. Mangrum has participated in the arbitration of alleged breaches of co-marketing and licensing agreements related to pharmaceutical products. She has also worked on the defense of an antitrust case brought by a generic manufacturer against a name-brand manufacturer.
